Us, too. Our Bichon Frise got an eye ulcer in early 2015 which required specialized doggie ophthalmologist do some corneal grafting. I didn’t ask my wife how much we spent and she has never told me (some things you are better off not knowing). I feel for families that simply don’t have the means to provide that level of care for their pets.
As precious as animals are, for most people an animal’s life doesn’t have the same value as a human life.
That’s a reality. People live once and are gone for good. We can always adopt a new pet. I’ve done that a few times in my lifetime.
She’s a mutt but now when anyone asks her breed it’s......exotic. Loll
Our 5-year old setter mix fought corneal ulcers for 18 months before the doggie ophthalmologist told us the medications weren’t working anymore and the dog needed micro-vascular surgery or she could take the eye out. We opted for the surgery, and it worked out well.
When people ask how much the surgery was, my husband just responds “That’s why God gives you two kidneys”. :)
