As pollution from burning fossil fuels continues to heat the atmosphere, the world's glaciers are melting at an accelerating rate. Scientists widely agree that this meltwater has been a major factor in raising global sea levels about seven inches over the 20th century.
The movement of all that water is affecting the Earth's rotation, according to a study published Friday in the journal Science.
"If you are melting glaciers from high latitudes--in Alaska, Greenland, or Iceland--you move mass away from the pole, toward the equator, which slows the Earth down," said Jerry Mitrovica, the study's lead author and a Harvard geophysicist who specializes in studying sea level change. "The change in the distribution of the mass from the poles to lower latitudes also causes the rotation to wobble slightly, because it's being redistributed unequally."

7 inches, wow! At the peak of the last glaciation, the oceans were about 400 feet LOWER than they are now. Change can and will happen, if all the rest of the glaciers melt the sea levels will rise but not to the extent that they already have. Man can not prevent this if it is going to happen, but we can prepare for the eventually.
But we'd need lots of money, so taxes would have to go up. But it would be all good.

Global sea levels are not up 7 inches in the last 100 years. Any harbor master of any place that has been around for that long could tell you that.

IMO, the wobble is generally well understood and it changes over time in a cycle. They charted it some time ago.
If anything, plate tectonics may have a effect as it tends to change to diameter of the planet...
Melting or building of glaciers would have no measurable affect compared to plate tectonics.
The earth is always in a state of change. man has nothing to do with it, nor can man control it in any way, shape or form..
The rotation of the earth is going to wobble with or without our help.
There is a gyroscope effect from the earth spinning, and if you have ever watched a spinning top, the motion degenerates over time to a wider and wider wobble, caused (in that instance) by the much greater gravitational pull of earth.
The tugs and pulls of the Sun and various other of the planets also circling the Sun cause very small variations, and the pull is what causes the “wobble”. The sum effect is actually very small, and often as not, tends to cancel itself out over long enough time span. For the earth, we are talking about BILLIONS of years.
Newtons are little square cookies filled with a fruit filling of some kind. That is the only “Newton” that some of these [policy wonks even know about.
