A standup comedian told his audience to google “Cosby rape.” They did...and they found a bunch of old cases, some decades old, from before the Internet, where Cosby had been accused of drugging and raping women and had paid off his accusers. The media picked up on it. They dug up some of the alleged victims. So it wasn’t a case of old victims “suddenly coming forward.” These women had been minding their own business for decades and were suddenly found and dug up. As the publicity increased, more victims came forward to support the other women.
I don’t think this has anything to do with Cosby’s comments about the black community. Other people have spoken out about the black community, and they did not have numerous women come forward to accuse them of rape.
Besides, Cosby is just a self-righteous scold. If you watch interviews of him, it seems he’s always lecturing or scolding somebody. I don’t think he cares that much about the black community or what they do. He just likes to get on a high horse and lecture people.
I think he likes to point out black underachievement in education just so he, by contrast, seems like Edison. See he has a “real” PhD in education. The title of his deeply intellectual thesis? “An Integration of the Visual Media via Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids Into the Elementary School Curriculum as a Teaching Aid and Vehicle to Achieve Increased Learning”
I’ve not seen ‘scold’ as a noun. I think I like it.
