UCANSEE2: “The existence of tropical forests under the miles of ice sheets might mean that those areas were part of the ‘tropics’ along the equator and Canada/North America might have been the ‘south pole’.”

Remember, the time frame for “snow ball Earth” was hundreds of millions of years BEFORE there were any forests, or other complex life of any kind.
We’re talking about Stromatilites and Algae under all that ice, not forests or critters.

Wow. Going back and rereading , today, the source article, I can see that you are correct. I got way off path likely because I focused on a 'concept' in my mind, and ignored the article.

My bad.

Now that there are more posts on the thread, I see others have some interesting theories, or arguments against theories. so it is becoming some interesting reading.
