All but official, 2015 world's warmest on record

While the region braces for its first unofficial snow panic of the season, the government is about to announce that 2015 was the warmest year on record worldwide - probably by a comfortable margin.

Officials at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies say they will release their annual reports on Wednesday.

December climate data has not yet been released, but the first 11 months of the year were so historically balmy that the declaration of 2015 as the world's warmest year - surpassing 2014 - with temperatures of at least 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit higher than the 20th Century average, is all but a certainty, weather watchers agree. And scientists at both agencies are expected to indict manmade greenhouse gases for the trend.

Oh, so those records of global cold during the Middle Ages have not been found?

It’s always the warmest year when you lower past temperature data.

LOL.
It was one of the coolest summers I’ve experienced last year.
We were lucky if the temp got near 85 during the summer.

This only means that the reporting sites were realigned in order to shift the data input to more closely conform to the computer forecasts which were programmed in earlier.

BS playing up to more BS.

...temperatures of at least 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit higher than the 20th Century average

Was that average arrived at before they fudged the data or after?

“The December 2014 globally-averaged temperature across land and ocean surfaces was 0.77°C (1.39°F) above the 20th century average of 12.2°C (54.0°F), the highest on record for December since records began in 1880, surpassing the previous record set in 2006 by 0.02°C (0.04°F).”

It is amazing what you can do when you ignore error bars. To imagine that we can measure the temperature of Earth so precisely that we can count hundredths of a degree as being significant is ridiculous.

Apparently they kept crappy records back then. Kinda like the altered records we keep now. Anybody find the records for the last glacial episode yet?

Joe Bastardi said last year that “they” are adding more recording sites in the Western US, so look for even more mischief.

Joe Bastardi was talking about this on last Saturday’s Weatherbell blog: http://www.weatherbell.com/

His commentary, if I remember correctly is that yes, warmest for last 30 years, but based upon the satellite data of the last 30 years. And the ‘global warming folks’ are wanting to say it is not accurate. He also says that the next few years are going to be cooler.

go to his site and listen.

If I also recall, last year was the coldest winter on record for a while.

Hot summers, cold winter. There is a word for that, but I cannot seem to recall what it is. Starts with a W....

Oh yeah, WEATHER!!!

“...the government is about to announce that 2015 was the warmest year on record worldwide...”

And the “record” covers .0000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of the earth’s history. Impressive.

It will be official as soon as they finish adjusting downward previous years’ temperatures. Again.
