Aquila Increasing .22 Production by 30% per Year (.22 drought relief?)

I talked to Rodney S. Taylor, Chief Engineer, at the Shot Show in Las Vegas. He said that the .22 ammunition is the Company's mainstay, by far the majority of the ammunition that they produce. Much of the Ammunition goes to the Central and South America markets. Aquila made the decision to significantly increase production a couple of years ago. Their machinery is state of the art, an almost completely automated, top of the line, process. Last year, in 2015, they increased their production by close to 30%, producing somewhat less than a billion rounds of ammunition. I recall a figure being mentioned of about $2 million dollars being invested in .22 rimfire production last year.

Bring it on. Hopefully the prices will drop like gasoline prices lately.

I don’t even own a .22. All the fun I can have with a .22 I can have an air rifle for a fraction of the price.

I hope so, I ran out of Colibris a year ago and can’t shoot in my garage any longer.

Just curious, and I really don't know the answer ...

Can you hit a rabbit/squirrel in the head at 100 years with an air rifle?

That’s an old rabbit, wouldn’t it be tough,
or is it some kind of special Chinese dish?

Tonight, we have special! 100 year Rabbit!

I certainly hope so. My favorite is the Marlin 60 and I used to consume large quantities of .22 ammo.
I miss doing that.

I was in the Lemmon Valley Wallyworld last week and they actually had some 22 SHORTS. Haven’t seen those in years.

LOL! Yeah, got one of them too. Packs a wallop on the evil bunny wabbits. I’m limited in my field of fire due to neighboring houses. And, it seems like the wabbits know which direction to run. Kind of like deer know when hunting season starts.

Are you kidding? Man, I could not even see a rabbit or a squirrel at a hundred yards.

Age, but I can still vote.

I guess I assumed you would have a scope on it so seeing it at 100 yards isn't an issue. I was wondering about the native accuracy of an air rifle.

About 55 or 60 years ago I used to have a Remington rolling block .22 that shot shorts. Most fun shooting, cheap and it taught me to shoot only once.

Since late last year, our local Academy Sports has consistently had bulk 22LR boxes at 5 cent per round without limit. They have kept stock up every time I’ve been in there for months.

WHAT! I’d like to have picked some up to shoot out of my Heritage .22 revolver. We were in the other day and I’ve gotten to the point that I hardly even look in the ammo bin anymore.

Nice gun. I always regretted not buying the only one I have seen for sale.

I probably can’t — been a while since I shot at rabbits and squirrels. These days though, there are air rifles that will easily reach out to 100 yards with enough punch to drop small critters.
