I think Kasparov is a relic of a bygone era. He is still mired in the 1980s. The rest of the world has moved on. People today, especially young people, have no recollection of Socialism or its offshoots. It just sounds good to them. Kasparov is a nobody to them...But why is it that someone who calls America "racist" and points to slavery in the 19th century or Jim Crow laws in the early 20th century is not likewise dismissed as a "relic?"

Because those are trendy and popular positions. That is what schools and colleges today teach. Saying such things is perfectly fine...
