Does This Video Show Ted Cruz’s Father Speaking in Tongues?

A video featuring Rafael Cruz, father of Republican presidential Ted Cruz, that was originally posted last month is gaining renewed attention, with claims that it features the elder Cruz praying in tongues.

The Drudge Report published a link to the clip on Friday with the headline, ’DAD SPEAKING IN TONGUES.” The video in question features Pastor Kenneth Copeland saying from the pulpit that he believes that Ted Cruz is “anointed to be the next president of the United States.”

After Copeland is seen inviting Rafael Cruz to the stage, the two discuss how Ted Cruz spent six months steeped in prayer with his family before deciding to run for the presidency — a story that the candidate’s father also recently shared with TheBlaze.

It’s what happened next, though, that is capturing attention, as some believe that Cruz is seen in the video “speaking in tongues” (also known as glossolalia) — a religious gift that purportedly permits certain Christians to speak and interpret a special language that comes directly from God.

Or, as Encyclopedia Britannica defines it, “utterances approximating words and speech, usually produced during states of intense religious experience.”

I am not fond of Copeland either.

However, I think Drudge jumped the shark mocking Ted’s father’s religion.

I am really sad about all the acrimony between Trump and Cruz. They would have made a good team.

I make my own decisions about those things. :-)

One of the things that is really hurtful from fellow FReepers is the snake-handling jokes.

That is done by a tiny rural sect, and does not represent the majority of Pentecostals or charismatics.

Oh Well. i forgive them...what can you do?

I have heard friends tell me the old man comes along with son and campaign staff and he goes right into this. You are saying what I have heard. Sad, the old man needs to get his story straight on Cuba as a Cuban who served in Vietnam with SF is well respected by all of us and he said his parents could not believe any Cuban did not know Castro was commie back then. That surprised me a bit. Now Rubio’s father and mother worked for Meyer Lansky and went to Vegas to tend bar.

Possibly but I personally don’t see them as a compatible team. Both are
very head strong in their aims and beliefs. JMO

It works this way, anything negative, no matter how valid, posted about a particular candidate are lies, damned lies, old news, irrelevant, not this shit again, how many times is this going to be posted, etc., while anything no matter how ridiculous or insulting posted about any other candidate is God's truth and valid.

I agree. Teddy Roosevelt is credited with this :“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The only one of these guys running who has really been in the arena in my book is Trump. Yes, a businessman is going to make mistakes and tick a few off. Rubio and Cruz are the real critics and they have not been in the arena. I want this country back. I am tired of PAC’s and Wall Street plus our elected ones selling us out to the highest bidder. I honestly believe they are.

Rafael Cruz also has many significant problems with his life story. He has claimed to have fought in battles, fire bombed buildings, and been present when certain revolutionaries died, but contradicted by his own testimony, either giving wrong locations or else having it revealed he was at home with ma and pa. And other “revolutionaries” claiming Rafael was not involved in any violent action.

...This sudden hostility to one group of Christians is very disturbing....

Hostility to some Christians may be disturbing, say something against the southern flag and they go crazy. Post a story on Israel and nobody has anything to say. If a bus blew up in Tel Aviv nothing, but mention the racist implications of the confederate flag and you’ll never hear the end of it.

That is what I have been told about the old man also, and; I double checked on those claims. I find it very suspicious how Cruz is supported by so many billionaires, whether the owner of Wrigley Field and the Cubs, Goldman Sachs,the Koch Bros, Gay Hotel owners, Citicorp, Title and loan types, billionaires who made it by fracking, and the list goes on. Who doesn’t he work for? “US”. What he did to Carson in Iowa along with those flyers claiming to be official is to much. I could not live with myself if I operated like Cruz does, Trump is right about him .
