Diane Black recalls story of woman who died at hands of “fly-by-night” abortionist

In a recent interview with The Church Boys, a faith and cultural podcast by The Blaze’s Billy Hallowell and Chris Field, Sr., pro-life Congresswoman Diane Black recounted how her experience as a nurse convinced her that the abortion industry does not prioritize women’s safety.

Starting about 12 minutes into the audio (below), the Tennessee Republican recounted the story of a woman who came into her emergency room suffering from abortion complications. “By the time she got to the hospital she had lost so much blood we couldn’t save her,” Black explained. “I watched her die, because it was an unsafe facility that she had that done in by a fly-by-night doctor that came to our state from out of state.”

She said that after the procedure, the abortionist had given the woman nothing more than a 1-800 number to call in the event of an emergency, which provided no help. Citing the event as an example of the true “war on women,” Black declared that “we should all be angry about that and say this should never happen” by passing laws requiring abortion facilities to “meet the same safety standards that we have in an ambulatory care center.”

Black’s description of the circumstances is sadly not uncommon, as patients of abortionist LeRoy Carhart have been left in similar situations, with no help available to them as Carhart left town, giving women the phone number of his wife’s horse business to call if there were problems. Carhart was featured in Live Action’s InHuman investigation in 2013:

Rep. Black was on the podcast to discuss her recent open letter responding to pro-abortion actress Amy Brenneman. As Live Action News reported last week, Black explained the true impact of Texas’s HB2 abortion regulations and shared Brenneman’s wish for women to be able to “choose their destiny,” but noted, “A young woman cannot choose her destiny if her life is cut short in the womb.”

These are usually made-up stories without factual basis.
