When Trump Blamed Pamela Geller For Inciting Violence
American Thinker ^ | March 15, 2016 | Daniel John Sobieski

Donald Trump, who denies that his provocative and sometimes profane rhetoric (particularly against Muslims_ has anything to do with violence and protests at his University of Illinois-Chicago rally, once blamed conservative activist Pamela Geller for provoking an attempted armed assault by – wait for it – unnecessarily provoking Muslims.

As Gideon Resnick noted last December in the Daily Beast, pre-candidate Trump was not as passionately concerned with Pamela Geller’s First Amendment free speech rights as he now is about his own:

This annoyed me when Trump did it to Geller. It annoyed me when Cruz did it to Trump. If Cruz ever took the lead, the mobs will come after him and the press and his opponents will blame him just as he blamed Trump.

The cheap shot is tempting but I’m always impressed when a politician resists the urge. It doesn’t happen often, though.

..Trump is just plain wrong. Pamela Geller is a hero. He would realize they are allies if he would think before he spoke...

I’m a Trump supporter and I cannot defend this. But in the greater scheme of everything, I still MUST vote for the only person who can change things.

Cruz, also, stamped on the 1st Amendment last Friday. So I guess the issue is a draw.

I'm pro-Trump, very much so. But this is one place where Trump went very wrong, and he needs to either correct himself, or more fully explain himself.

And no, I don't buy the argument that the Geller/Trump situations are not the same. The situations are the same. It's all about free speech, period.

What would impress me would be if Trump would reach out to Pam and seek her support. He’ll never apologize, exactly, but that would be the equivalent in Donald-speak.

Here is a more accurate example of Trump fighting against the Ground Zero Mosque from 2010:

Donald Trump offers to purchase site of Ground Zero mosque

Donald Trump, the real estate mogul, has offered to purchase the site of the proposed Islamic community centre and mosque near Ground Zero with a 25 per cent markup.

He offered Hisham Elzanaty, an Egyptian-born New York businessman, a 25 per cent premium over the $4.8 million price that his investment consortium paid for the site, which is just two blocks from ground zero.

“I am making this offer as a resident of New York and citizen of the United States, not because I think the location is a spectacular one (because it is not), but because it will end a very serious, inflammatory, and highly divisive situation,” Mr Trump wrote in his letter to Mr Elzanaty.

You forgot "Trump is still evolving on the issue" and "That was 10 months ago before he knew how bad Isis was".
