The file is in PDF; the remembrances, felt rather than seen on the screen. This takes the 65 year olds back to childhood when we lived life as free Americans.
In the 1950's, young boys of early grade school age could join the Indian Guides, a father-and-son program sponsored by the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA). The program encouraged socialization and bonding among boys and their fathers and taught boys about American Indian folkways and to respect Indians and their contribution to our heritage. The Indian Guides also raised money and collected toys for needy children on Indian reservations.
Sadly, in this day and age, a program such as this is considered "racist" and "sexist," and the Indian Guides became yet another victim of "political correctness" when the YMCA discontinued the program.
