I don’t watch “Game of Thrones” but evidently it is a reference to a treacherous plot:

red wedding

A total disaster; a sudden event resulting in a complete change of fortunate among rivals, involving immense loss on one side and the total triumph of the other, often involving a carefully planned betrayal and brutal bloodletting. Based upon the “Red Wedding” event in “Game of Thrones”.

The Red Wedding is a reference to Game of Thrones...two of the main characters (mother and son), a minor one (wife of son) and many others were killed during a wedding reception by the host...it was an episode shocker and quite a bloody affair. Not to be confused with The Purple Wedding, another episode to remember, where the young king was poisoned with wine on his wedding day. :)
