Still Report #791 - Cruz Humiliated in U S Senate
You Tube ^ | Apr 14, 2016 | Bill Still

Posted on 04/14/2016 6:48:20 PM PDT by SubMareener

Calgary Ted Cruz was humiliated on the floor of the U.S. Senate twice on Monday night, according to a report in Politico. Months of Cruz’s criticisms of his Republican colleagues is now reaping some nasty rewards for the Junior Senator from Canada. During a discussion of continuing funding for the government, Cruz tried to interrupt the proceedings with a roll call vote. The usually polite decorum on the floor of the U.S. Senate quickly turned negative as even Cruz’s fellow Republicans refused to grant him what’s called a “sufficient second” that would have allowed him to briefly call for the vote. Failing to be recognized for a sufficient second, Cruz attempted to interrupt to call for a voice vote and got a kind of voice vote he was not expecting - a loud chorus of “no’s” from his colleagues. Cruz was fuming after the second repudiation. It was an “unprecedented trick,” said Cruz. However insiders see this as indicative of a combination of Cruz’s declining chances in his presidential nomination run combined with his colleagues rising anger at what they see as Cruz’s ongoing attempts to further his own political aspirations at their expense. Under Senate rules, Cruz had already been given an hour to speak on Monday night, but was not granted additional time. Colleagues complain that Cruz has an almost Messianic view of his self-importance to both the Senate and the rest of the world. After being denied additional time, Cruz fumed from the Senate floor: “The Democrats are objecting to my speaking further. And both the Democrats and Republican leadership are objecting to the American people speaking further.” How much speaking does one Junior Senator need? Cruz’s calls for roll call votes are seen as mere tricks to get his colleagues on the record for anything with which he disagrees. His speech on Monday was filled with venom for Republican leaders and even praising of Democrats as being more resolute then the GOP. As Politico put it: “Cruz also personally lambasted McConnell and his deputies for denying a roll call vote that would have failed anyway, arguing that results are rigged in the Senate and that conservatives have no influence anymore.” Interestingly, campaign reporters have noticed of late that Donald Trump - who Cruz frequently brands as a Democrat - seems to poll best in THE most traditionally Republican areas – the South and more rural areas; where Cruz seems to poll very well in typically deep blue precincts such as the urban centers. I’m Still reporting from Washington. Good day

Conservatives don’t lie, intimidate, steal, disregard the will of the people.

“For all those who think Ted Cruz can work with Congress. A little reality check. “

So you want a candidate who is cozy with the Washington establishment?

I thunk we have had enough of that.

And so what if the story was flipped; and read that the Senators welcomed Ted with open arms.
Then the Cruz haters would be saying; “See; he’s part of the DC establishment”.

That’s an interesting non-sequitur.

Cruz will do just fine. Not sure why y’all are so against the only conservative in the race.

After Donald J. Trump finishes doing all the “liberal” things he has promised: build the wall, deport illegals and Syrian invaders, cancel Obama’s unconstitutional executive orders, roll back twenty years of intrusive government regulations, prosecute Hillary and her crew, release the secret 28 pages from the 9/11 report, negotiate prescription drug purchases, repeal and replace Obamacare, simplify the Tax code, repatriate $2.5 trillion in off-shore profits, stop the IRS from abridging the free speech of Christian Churches, reform the libel laws to remove the “public figure” distinctions, defund Planned Parenthood until they stop doing abortions, cleaning up the mess that is the VA, cutting waste, fraud and abuse where ever it is found, canceling Common Core and returning control of education to the States, end the assault on the Second Amendment, audit the Federal Reserve System, investigate the harmful additives in Vaccines and the coverup of studies at the CDC, and destroy the culture of Political Correctness, then we can talk about all the other “conservative” issues that need to be addressed.

So which is it, is Cruz GOPe or is he a thorn in their side? You can’t have it both ways.

And Trump is going to be well received? He couldn’t even negotiate a single delegate in Colorado.

No, it's called raw analysis. Neither one will be allowed to be the nominee.

*************

You do understand the objective is to display leadership and win. So far Cruz
hasn’t shown the ability. Until he can show that then the public will search for
someone who can. So far Trump has been the only one to show that and time is running
short for Edward to make his leadership case.

Then you should be able to vote for Cruz with a clear conscience.

And, a fortune teller too!

Not fortune telling, it's called political analysis, something of which I assume is a foreign skill to you.

This is so easy, even the Democrats are beginning to catch on. Donald Trump can work with anyone, establishment, liberal, conservative, smart, stupid, but the big difference is that he is not controlled by them or obligated in any way to do what they want. In addition he has plainly stated that he is going to cut off the public feeding trough, so that we, the People, don’t have to pay for these idiots any more.

Cruz is an overly ambitious Freshman Senator, with an enormous ego and with messianic delusions fed to him by his father. The GOPe, as evil as they are, are head and shoulders above him in manipulation - they've got 50 years of experience at these things. His arrogance is only matched by his inside-the-beltway naivete, thinking he can take on these GOPe "advisors".

He and Kasich will be responsible for handing the nomination to one of the GOPe's picks, who like in '08 and '12, will lose to the Democrat1. Then the GOPe - who hates Cruz, will seize the opportunity to stab him in the back, blaming him for the Republicans' loss (it's all Kabuki Theater). Win/Win for the GOPe, Lose/Lose for Cruz.

1. The GOPe - a fully-owned subsidiary of the UniParty - wants to lose anyway. This keeps the gravy train rolling for them.

Well, that proves that you aren’t a very good mind reader. ;-) Have you tried reading his books? He started laying out his platform thirty years ago.

Here are Donald J. Trump’s core principles, published in 1987.

1. Think Big
2. Protect the Downside and the Upside Will Take Care of Itself
3. Maximize Your Options
4. Know Your Market
5. Use Your Leverage
6. Enhance Your Location
7. Get the Word Out
8. Fight Back
9, Deliver the Goods
10. Contain the Costs
11. Have Fun

Now, if any of the Consistent Conservatives had applied even part of this over the past 30 years the country would not be in the shape it is in today. Instead Consistent Conservatives have stood, marched, and yammered for “family values”, “small government”, “lower taxes”, etc., all while just the opposite happened, over and over again. One betrayal of principle after another.

Here is what Donald J. Trump says at the end of The Art of the Deal:

What’s Next
Fortunately, I don’t know the answer, because if I did, that would take half the fun out of it.
This much I do know: it won’t be the same.
I’ve spent the first twenty years of my working life building, accumulating, and accomplishing things that many said could not be done. The biggest challenge I see over the next twenty years is to figure out some creative ways to give back some of what I’ve gotten.
I don’t just mean money, although that’s part of it. It’s easy to be generous when you’ve got a lot, and anyone who does, should be. But what I admire most are people who put themselves directly on the line. I’ve never been terribly interested in why people give, because their motivation is rarely what it seems to be, and it’s almost never pure altruism. To me, what matters is the doing, and giving time is far more valuable than just giving money.
In my life, there are two things I’ve found I’m very good at: overcoming obstacles and motivating good people to do their best work. One of the challenges ahead is how to use those skills as successfully in the service of others as I’ve done, up to now, on my own behalf.
Don’t get me wrong. I also plan to keep making deals, big deals, and right around the clock.
