Two questions:
- If we declare War on Mexico (and we should), whose side would this guy have been on?
- If he was told to fire on Americans, would he have hesitated?
Whose side did the Japanese Americans, Italian Americans, or German Americans fight on?
My point is that the man served while millions have not. He put his life on the line for a country and a cause that really was not his. To me, that is bravery and honor. This Marine displayed ideals and virtues that I, for one, applaud.
One other point.....and this is, of course, subject to the scenario woven to fit a particular situation, if a Marine is ordered to fire on American citizens, what Marine worthy of the title would do so? We are NOT talking about Americans who have given over to the Dark Side, as in joining ISIS or any other anti-American group or entity or Americans justifiably rebelling against a tyrannical government domestically.
