From Lauren Bianchi, of the pro-choice group FURIE:
I dont know exactly when escorting started but it was a response to an awful wave of terrorism, when antiabortion protesters would chain themselves to the doors to keep people from getting in. Clinics are businesses. They dont want people standing around outside. [Activists] thought they should be allowed to have clinic-defense protests. When I was an escort, I was told that patients cant tell the difference [between protesting factions].

Women are less likely to want to go in and pass by others praying the Rosary or holding signs if you are out there! Keep this in mind. On days they do abortions you be there!
“antiabortion protesters would chain themselves to the doors”
Is that “terrorism”?
What about blocking intersections, walking en masse on freeways, or interfering with rail travel?
I have participated in abortion mill protests in the past, and we were EXTREMELY careful to obey all relevant laws and regulations. We could be on the sidewalk and the grassy area to the curb. We could not obstruct passage of foot or vehicle travel. We maintained a particular distance from the building and parking lot as outlined by local rules.
Holding signs and just being there can be a powerful statement.
‘businesses’, as in legalized assassins
