...NASA says the huge hole is actually not of great concern, but it remains unclear why the coronal holes actually form...So if they don't know why it formed how do they know it's not a concern?

It’s not a concern as to the sun burning out or changing permanently. But Coronal Mass Ejections are always a possibility.
