I know of someone who posted a pic of an illegal firearm (taken in his garage)on a firearms forum only to soon get a visit from the feds wanting to see said firearm. He had a good back story and was not charged with anything.

Lots of sloppy work and false positives in the lists that such folks might keep. And they would essentially get paid for volume too, so the lists would keep getting longer, without any quality checks. You might be #17,290,338 on the "To Do" list by now.
It could take "them" a while to get around to you.
There are a lot of anti-gun people who monitor gun forums just looking for somebody to turn in to the cops.
