Firefox has gone nuts by rejecting the certificates from many legitimate websites including YouTube and Gmail.
The instructions say to go to Advanced and create an exception for each website. This is still a problem because some websites cannot be added and others only last for one time only.
I have been to the Settings tab and there is no security setting that I can find that addresses this issue.
IE doesn't have this issue at all, just Firefox.
Thanks for any suggestions?

You may have a virus/spyware. I use firefox and I use this on all my computers. SpyHunter I like the real time monitoring rather than just running it once a day. Catches a lot of stuff.

As weird as it sounds, check that your system time and date are correct. My Windows 10 laptop likes to jump the date a few days forward every now and then for some reason, and when that happens, I can no longer access any Web site that uses the HTTPS protocol (i.e. secure Web sites). Once I correct the date and time, the problem disappears.

3. As others stated your virus program may also be causing the issue.
Check your computer’s date and time, and make sure it is current.
Sounds like the computer date/time may be off. Check that first.
Just a suggestion, and it’s settle several “headaches” I’ve had with Safari, have you installed/tried “Brave” yet? It’s worth a try if all else fails. I dumped Firefox when they dumped the guy who wrote the code for “Brave” because he gave financial support to the “normal marriage” amendment crowd.
Date and Time didn’t fix it.
I hit a block with this as the recommended “Encriptions” tab doesn’t exist.
My anti-virus is Kaspersky and it just finished a complete scan with nothing discovered.
I am going to reinstall Firefox now.
Security certificate issues have screwed up Firefox.
My advice is replace it with Cyberfox/Waterfox.
You’ll be a lot happier.

I had problems when Firefox updated to v 47.0 a few days ago. After many hours wasted on help forums etc, I found that the problem was the update conflicted with my anti-virus software (still running avg, much to my chagrin), so that the firefox database files were corrupted during the upgrade. Answer: (i) uninstall firefox (I am running win7 so used the standard control panel) (ii) then manually deleted all remaining ‘Mozilla’ libraries in AppData etc etc (iii) temporarily disabled avg (iv) installed clean new version of firefox (v) re-enable avg (vi) you will have to recreate all your favorites and firefox ‘options’ and profiles etc
I’ve experienced no problems since with firefox and avg, nor also with Malwarebytes scans nor with Piriform CacheCleaner (despite what folks claim on other blogs that firefox v47 is incompatible with either).
