That was a funny cartoon, but not very scientific. More like the cartoon “Story of Stuff” than anything else.

Is there any empirical data on, say, birth defects caused GMOs? Death by rare disorders that can be attributed to GMOs? Also, how do statistics of death by GMOs stack up against death by malnutrition and starvation?

By the way, the bee death thing in the cartoon seems to ignorantly imply that bees eat the crops that have insect repellent and/or insecticide “built in”. Bees don’t eat crops, they get nectar from the flowering portion of the plants.

Notice I’m not asking about the patenting and control concerns. Those are logical conclusions to make given easily verifiable evidence in reference to GMOs.

Exactly. Mass starvation is caused mainly by food distribution, not availability, especially when a government is in control of the distribution.

It is the single most devastating weapon in the socialist/Communist arsenal, and has killed more people in the 20th Century than all of the wars fought in that era combined.

Fang has had an organic garden for quite a while now. -
My grandparents used to have a big garden every year. I
clearly remember them gathering seeds from their favorite
crops and spreading them out on a big table on their
screened-in back porch. Fang has been getting heritage
seed from old varieties for a long time & gathering them
for his personal use.
(What few neighbors we have live a long way off & would
not garden even if those companies donated dead-end seeds
to them.) LAZY is the new PRODUCTIVE. I’m not judging
here. I believe in LIBERTY for all.

One GMO that could have devastated agriculture around the world was an experimental soil microorganism that effectively killed off all the beneficial soil bacteria in the test plot in which it was introduced.

Fortunately it was contained to a large plastic container, but without a lid in a greenhouse that had no other biological contamination control measures.

While an extreme example, it does highlight the problem of gene-swapping, especially among microorganisms.

My little dumb sister believes this stuff about chem trails and GMO foods.
Corn was a little nub of a plant until man made it to what it is today along with potatoes and rice etc that keeps alive billions of people.

That is what the envio nazi’s are against. Keeping alive people!

Even one of my very leftist former HS students is now on FB lobbying in favor of GMO crops. Maybe the spell cast by Greenpeace is beginning to break.
