Why? So tax payers can pay for a lengthy trial along with a defense lawyer, and an even longer appeal process? So we can let the liberals use him to push to get yet another cop killer out of prison? So he could spend every day in the prison system as a hero to the rest of the cons, be fed, receive free medical treatment, watch TV, lift weights, get regular visits with his girlfriends, family and homies, not to mention the other court ordered rights granted these scumbags? There was no guarantee any info would have been forthcoming from him anyway, so I'd said the best thing that could have happened...did. He'll never murder another innocent person ever again.

Under anything near normal circumstances, yes. But if they feared that he had remote control means to set off bombs, I don't see that they had any choice.
