Always look for the simplest explanation. They’re Turks, and they’re Muslims. That means everything they do is a screw-up.
“.....everything they do is a screw-up.”
This is a true story. I had to go to Incirlik in the late 1990s (the city airport, not the military airport) and they were just opening up the new section of the local airport. The plane just parked in the middle of the ramp and we had to walk toward the new terminal building. I needed to use the toilet really bad....number one.
So the airport guy pointed over to a shiny new door and I entered the airport toilet. Here’s five urinals and I step up to it....and start my business. I can hear some kind of liquid hitting the floor....and look down.
There is not pipe connecting the urinal to the drainage. It’s just dumping the liquids from number one onto the floor and there it lays.
At that point, I spread my feet apart and I didn’t really care....wrapping up my business and leaving it there for them.
I could mention the screwed-up million-dollar barracks on Incirlik that was uninhabitable when completed, but why waste space.
“That means everything they do is a screw-up.”
You’re more right than you realize.
It’s a point we’ve forgotten.
In Islam, striving for perfection is immoral: since only Allah is perfect, humans must be imperfect - not just by nature, but as an imperative.
Everything a Muslim does must have an error, so they deliberately introduce flaws into everything they do; as the works of people build on each other, those errors accumulate into serous screw ups.
