AS cases of meningitis, a rare and potentially fatal disease, popped up in cities nationwide over the past several years, public health officials noticed a trend: many of those infected were gay men.
There’s no known medical reason why meningitis, which is transmitted through saliva, would spread more among gay and bisexual men. Yet New York, Chicago and now Southern California have experienced outbreaks disproportionately affecting that population.
“It is perplexing,” said Dr. Rachel Civen, a medical epidemiologist at L.A. County’s Department of Public Health.
Of the 13 cases of meningitis this year in L.A. County — excluding Long Beach, which has its own health department — seven were gay men. There were only 12 meningitis cases in the county in all of 2015, one of which was a gay or bisexual man.

Cigarette smoking is a public health hazard and that justifies its regulation by the government. But queer behavior is protected and even encouraged, even though it can be demonstrated that its risks are far greater.
It’s not just the diseases. It’s the drug usage, mental illness, physical and sexual violence, and stigma from family and friends.
I imagined you would agree that a woman that does not know of the slovenly practices of gay men is to be admired and appreciated. You are blessed that you haven’t had to consider that up to now.

I watched a show about a gay man who listed all the diseases he had gotten from anal sex. He listed all the usual STDs plus about a dozen more. And gays wonder why their life spans are shorter.

As a suburban man that spent some formative years on a rural farm in Georgia, I feel you could never educate me about the lives of urban gay men, straight women and their relationships.
I have at least four Gay fb friends right now that I know of, but as I told one about 25 years ago, I could never approve of the lifestyle. I just tolerate the aberrations of the human condition that I have no right or ability to control.
