Chicago Public Schools will lay off about 1,000 employees, nearly half of whom are teachers.
Officials with the nations third-largest school district characterized the layoffs Friday as part of the normal yearly staff movement between schools and that they expect most people will be hired for other jobs.
CPS has about 1,000 teaching vacancies.

So what. 1/3 of the 1/2 probably suck.
I would think for all that the children are taught they can get rid of all the teachers, close all of the schools and use the money to pay for the retirements that they have promised the the entire corrupt system. Same results I would think.

Perhaps they’ll replace the many unemployed engineers in Houston?
When so many of Chicago’s youth are drop outs, then the lay offs won’t be noticed.
Will Obama’s library take some of them in?
Interesting site to check on daily.

In college every education major I met said they could never handle being in engineering like me, it was way too hard. They spent a large part of the time partying.
Good start. Now do it again.

When I was a kid, our schools had a Superintendent (for all schools in town) who had a secretary.
Then each individual school had a principal, who also had a secretary. Then there was a janitor for inside and a groundskeeper for outside.
All the other employees were teachers.
Somehow you don’t need as many teachers when all the youth are killing each other.
CPS must have thought of that. All down to what kind of crisis the people at the top want.
Those 1000 will still get paid so dont cry for these dummycrap pukes.
I tried to avoid my frat house whenever I can because once I enter, I’ll end up drunk. 2 of our senior brothers were comp sci engineers and they were rarely there except when they need to kick plebe ass during initiations.
And yet, in Houston there are more engineers than teachers, jobless and the future in the oil industry looks bleak.
Probably all refused to go back.
I must be really old.
My school actually had lunch ladies. They served us hot food, cooked from scratch.
Dear Chicago Teachers,
How does it feel to be a Democrat, now?
That will actually help. 1000 less community organizers teaching socialism to black kids rather than US History. Good move!
Yeah, Good point. I forgot about that. There must have been about five cafeteria workers at my elementary and junior high, and maybe seven at high school.
