A granite monument of the Ten Commandments planned near Arkansas’ Capitol will weigh 6,000 pounds and stand more than 6 feet tall, the group lined up to install the display said in an application filed Monday.

The American History and Heritage Foundation detailed its plans for the privately-funded monument in papers submitted to the secretary of state’s office. The majority-Republican Legislature and GOP Gov. Asa Hutchinson approved a law last year that requires the state to allow the monument to be built on Capitol grounds. …

In a normal day and age I would say “Great!” But now the first thing I think is “Oh great, here come the Satanists.”

I think it would add tremendous class to a monument depicting the 10 commandments to, on its reverse side, have the 10 commandments in Hebrew. Alternatively, on the reverse of the 10 commandments could be the Noahide Laws, the seven laws of Noah that apply to all mankind, which would be as much or more controversial.

Where does John 3:16 fit in all this? Once more it has to be at the back of the bus?

Putting up a tablet of religious law is like posting all the tests you ever failed in school.

Wish our churches would post the 10 Commandments front and center. Don’t even see them in our church.

Good. Shine the spotlight on the Satanists to reveal them for what they are.

Except that the Noahide Laws apply to all mankind, and the 10 commandments apply to all who believe in God. But if you read the rest of that chapter of John, it is exclusionary. Believe in Jesus or you are condemned.

While that is *generally* the belief of Christians, it sets them above other faiths, so is out of place, as much as if there was some verse from the Book of Mormon, that only Mormons go to Heaven and everyone else goes to Hell.
