Wasn’t too bad before Carter effed it up ... wasn’t good either but you could leave with your head still attached to your neck (could lose your little head though, long story... know the parties involved... it was gross in a couple different ways)
Concur. I did a 6-week TDY to the Embassy in 1975. Spent a lot of time at the Marine House on the compound. Off the compound, it was OK. There were a few good restaurants. Don’t think I’d want to go back there or anywhere in Southwest or Central Asia these days.
