All the linked songs are from Andre Rieu's Homecoming 2006.
Poconopundit, before I retired, I had my iPod set up to play this lovely ditty sung by your Three Tenors:

Amorphous, thanks for the thread. My late father loved Andre Rieu. We were told by the hospice nurses to play his favorite music at the end. He loved the songs below. My mom and I shed a few tears today. RIP, Dad. We miss you.
Glennb51 and CyberAnt you may enjoy this as well. It's beautiful and so calming. The second song and how it is staged will make you laugh. So very typical Andre Rieu.

FYI Amorphous, starting yesterday, my nephew began his three year stint at the University of Maastricht studying International Business. He lives two streets away from the Square. The lucky ducky!

You will love this Andre Rieu version of Belero as well.
The drummer is playing with his young son at his side. This was in the DVD Andre Rieu La vie eat belle or Life Is Beautiful.

Here is O Mio Bambino Caro circa 2004 Tuscany. Watch for the old Italian gent with tears running down his face...you wonder what had happened to him in his life. Rieu’s audiences are just so interesting.

My mom and I shed a few tears today. RIP, Dad. We miss you. Bless you Chgogal, and thank you for sharing your feelings! And to you and all, thanks for the great links! Much listening pleasure in those.
I've never seen a musician, or any other artist, draw such heartfelt emotion out of an audience as does Andre Rieu.
His talents are phenomenal, one of the greatest violinist ever, IMO, not even mentioning his conducting abilities and epic performances. Plus, he just seems to be a great person - he doesn't seem to limit posts of his music on Youtube, and his fellow performers have been with him for years. I think that says a lot about a person.
I truly envy your nephew. ;)

O Mio Bambino Caro, what a beautiful performance and singer.
Another one I love is Panis Angelicus sung by the Australian, Mirusia Louwerse.
Notice what looks to be over 100 uniformed players of brass instruments lining up along the city square to play a soft but powerful accompaniment to Mirusia's stunning voice. Imagine how thrilling it must have been to be there!
Panis Angelicus has special significance, too, because the lyrics were written by St. Thomas Aquinas, that Dominican friar of the 13th century. He wrote the hymn for the Catholic feast of Corpus Christi. So the music is a kind of echo of Medieval times.

I love the trumpet player too! And think Rieu’s music is timeless. ;-)

She is great! Thanks for the link to the song’s origins. It’s a very interesting piece, and indeed, I would have loved to have been there to hear it performed in person! :-)

The sound of angels would be as sweet. When heard, the music does tend to lift you and take you to a higher dimension. A spiritual experience.

"I told you that we traveled world since 25 years, we've visited a lot of countries. But there was one country that we did not visit yet. It's a country that doesn't exist. A country we all dream of, a land where children can run free.
You here these words in the beautiful song we are going to play now, ladies and gentlemen. I would like to dedicate this song to all the children of the world.
And let us, adults, do everything that is in our power to create this land as soon as possible, so that this dream of peace, can finally come true." - André Rieu Wonderful World (Live in Maastricht 2015)
This land is mine (The Exodus Song)
