"Have there been better golfers? Perhaps, but not many. Has anyone done more for the game? No one has come even close," former R&A chief Peter Dawson said. "Is there a finer human being? I haven't met one yet."
Well said!
Rest In Peace, Arnie.

I drink to Arnie’s memory quite often.

"He had this other thing," Finchem said. "It was the incredible ability to make you feel good not just about him, but about yourself. There aren't many these days who you can say that about.

Sorry, would you edit this. I didn’t notice it was an AP article and I posted the entire piece.

Hubby and I attended the Friday Ryder Cup session - they handed out I’m With Arnie’s Army buttons and we had the opportunity to sign the memorial board. As great a golfer he was he was even greater person off the course..... RIP Arnie.....

Has anyone said how he died? It’s pretty mysterious that he would check into a hospital for elective heart surgery( valve, cabg?)sounding essentially well, making phone calls etc., and just die prior to the operation? Don’t mean to be a ghoul, but it seems like something out of the ordinary happened.

I’ve only read he died of complications from heart problems and that seems likely being he was about to undergo a procedure for it.

My sentiments exactly. Trusting that Mr. Hockey (Gordie Howe) was among those on hand to welcome Arnold up there where all of the all time athletic greats probably get together to enjoy eternity.

Arnold Palmer's ashes were placed in a sand trap near the 18th hole and Jack Nicklaus and others took turns from the sand trap hitting a golf ball onto the green.......
