Army Knowlege Online (AKO) bans guns????

As a US Government contractor and retired US Army Soldier with 23 years of service I’m allowed an account on the US Army’s social portal, AKO, Army Knowledge Online. AKO is an employee portal for all Soldiers and Army Civilians to collaborate, exchange, and find information about their unit, the Army and the US Government.

Recently I attempted to load a picture on my AKO profile page. The picture shows a close up of me shooting an M1 Garand. Shortly after the upload AKO informed me via email that Response Via Email:

“(Janet C.) - 11/02/2016 07:53 AM Your recently uploaded AKO profile picture has been denied for the following reason: NO guns or sunglasses are allowed in picture. “

Are you kidding me? Is this some sort of sick joke? Janet C, saw fit to tell me that NO guns were allowed on a profile picture and she capitalized both letters of NO as if to smack my right wing wacko hand and tell me, “guns are dangerous, you silly man, and will not be tolerated in this Army”.

What makes it even more ironic is that the rifle in the picture is an Army Issued M1 Garand from the Korean War and purchased through the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP).

So not only can you have NO guns in pictures on an Army website but you can have NO Army Issue guns on an Army website. And to add insult to injury, after 23 years of active duty, a condescending, better than you, PC Liberal has the gall to berate me for having a gun in a picture on an Army website.

AKO runs pictures of Soldiers wielding guns and wearing eye-pro on their main login page. It seems that as an Army website, AKO at least puts on the facade of supporting the Second Amendment and Veterans however behind the scenes and in practice they are acting contrary to those values.

For what it’s worth I have written my Senator John McCain and Congresswoman Martha McSally and hope to see some push back on this. In the mean time if you feel like expressing your opinion to AKO here is their contact info: email: help@us.army.mil: 1-866-335-2796:

AKO was openly promoting and fighting for open homosexuality in the Armed Forces back when it was forbidden. AKO is run by lefty loon liberal civilians.

To: Mr. Douglas

Maybe they’re trying to reduce the scourge of gun violence.
