Having grown up being constantly threatened with “If you don’t straighten up you’re going to lose your happy home”, implying she would send me back to the adoption agency I came from, I can assure you it is real. Women like that exist.
I am 71 years old and it never goes away. Never.
My dad stood up to her once. Her response was to abuse me when he wasn’t home.
It’s a myth that adoption agencies are thorough and careful about the families they choose.
