“School officials said they just want to make sure all cultures and backgrounds are comfortable at school.”
Great! Let them put up their holiday symbols and celebrate it just like you would Christmas. Banning Christmas and letting other religions put up their religious symbols then forcing the rest to respect that to me is grounds for dismissal as well as a beat down.
I am sick of this.
Except the culture that connotes Christmas with Christ. And that's all of the USA pre communist, atheist, humanist, elitist takeover of American public education.
These people are such hypocrites.
On Tuesday, November 29, one of our local media outlets ran a story about HSD with a title of: Schools ban Santa. The story itself, which talked about our guidance to staff around refraining from decorating with overtly religious or strictly Christmas-related items, wasnt bad, and correctly reported that several surrounding districts have similar guidelines in place; however, the title of the piece has been very upsetting to people and is leading to questions and confusion.
Read the fake denial by the district.
> School officials said they just want to make sure all cultures and backgrounds are comfortable at school.
My brother married a Jewish girl and converted.
My sister is Christian.
My wife is and kids are all Buddhist.
We all celebrate Christmas and put up a Santa and Christmas decorations.
I am so incredibly tired of all this CRAP. Our family celebrates Christmas - both the secular and non-secular parts. In our house if you don’t believe you get nothing for Christmas. Adult children still put out cookies and milk for Santa right after we get home from attending the candlelight service at our church.
About half of the homes in our neighborhood decorate outside and we have lots of mangers among those houses. Those that don’t like it can just not look or participate.
Oregon and Washington can leave the United States with California anytime now, or at least the coastal zones. The interior areas of all three states are patriotic, so they need to stay American.
they want to make sure ALL cultures are comfortable. ROTFLMAO Except Christians and most Americans.
Gig Harbor has changed since you went to school. The damn teachers, fron the pre-schools all the way up to the high schools, are huge PC nazis. At Peninsula High, trannie boys can change in the girl’s locker room and in the elementary schools, they sing “Wintry Songs on a Starry Night”. Not sure if there’s a Christmas song in that line up.
I’m praying my family and I can move to a red state.
But they will have ramadan classes and arabic language study available soon, along with hijab costumes for the girls to practise.
...to make sure they are being sensitive and thoughtful as they enter the holiday season....
***
And insensitive and thoughtless to the Christian students.
What about a red Trump hat!
Don't get suckered into abandoning common sense to appease the Grinches. Santa is not really a religious symbol, and letting Santa in does not mean any holiday or religious symbol has to be let in to make things fair. Christmas is the biggest traditional holiday in America. The secular version of it is Santa, and the religious version of it is the Manger scene. There is no reason that schools should bend over backwards for loud mouthed bigots who hate Christmas. The fake manufactured "Festus" and "Kwanza" crap only exists as an anti-Christmas reaction and should be summarily ignored until whatever day they can become big traditions apart from being helped by some agencies recognizing them purely out of pressure for anti-Christmas bigots. If some day a Jewish or Hindu holiday or other gets a widely adopted secular version, then the schools can let the kids celebrate the secular version of that holiday at school. Not necessarily at Christmas time, but whenever is appropriate for those holidays. We don't ban Halloween costumes because a lot of "pagans" like to think of it as religious holiday. For the rest of us its just secular, and no big deal A few people don't like it for religious reasons...but so what? They can tough it, because its an established tradition.
No problem with banning Santa Claus. Catholic schools did this when I attended in 1952.
Their position was that Christmas was the birthday of Jesus Christ. I
You would have thought that anything in or near Portland would welcome a Santa Claus because part of his costume is RED and his led commissar, Rudolph, has a RED nose.
And Christmas ribbons have lots of “RED” in them.
I’m waiting for the leftist bastards of Oregon to ban Blue and White ribbons on Chanukah gifts because they want to accuse the Israelis of “genocide, land conquests, and revisionist history” regarding the non-existent Palestine.
And the Menorah is definitely going to be banned from schools because it is the symbol of “freedom” and that cannot be allowed in the Marxist shithole state known as the Peoples Republic of Oregon.
Being sensitive and diverse never seems to include items hated by the left.
“The students are not allowed to wear anything Santa-themed, either. “
The law does not allow them to enforce that. A kid can also wear a cross, pray at lunch, etc. Call Sekulo at the ACLJ.
are burka’s banned? I am offended by them
