Economic authoritarianism has now arrived...

Mark Levin·Sunday, December 4, 2016

Economic authoritarianism has now arrived; sorry, there is no other way to put it. I am reminded of Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt, both of whom used the power of the federal government to intimidate and even crush legitimate, law-abiding businesses for failing to abide by their political demands. This is a disgrace, and we should all object to it. It concerns me to no end that there are putative Republicans and conservatives who rally around such un-American and destructive strong-arm tactics. And the fact that it is declared by a recent convert to the Republican Party, as opposed to a Democrat, doesn't excuse it; indeed, it should be even more alarming. https://apnews.com/d5a4140c46844b4f8e50f6c28906906c

Tax incentives were given by the state. All trump did was talk about tax policy

Levin must have missed Solyndra, SolarReserve and other green energy crony capitalism deals under Obama.
Or giving the unions priority in GM’s bailouts over retirees holding corporate bonds.

It might be good to keep posting his crap, because it’s the best way for people to see that he’s all about promoting his own alleged intellectual superiority and arguing about nuances of ideology that don’t matter in the real world. The only way people like him learn is to hit them in the wallet...stop listening and stop buying his books.

....”prides himself on his intellectual accuracy”....

I am 51 years old....I know people that have Doctorates in extremely hard fields and i know people that barely made it through high school....The most intelligent and pure photographic memory people i know are not intellectuals....America does not run on intellectuals. In the Navy, i knew a country boy from east Texas that was pretty much the smartest person i ever met. I was in a very technical field and his reasoning and recall was nothing short of amazing. Levin is not in his league and many others.

Iif regulations on manufacturing are required in this country, then imported manufactured goods should have the same burden levied upon them.`

That is such an important and key point that it bares repeating. The same arguement could also be applied to energy extraction and the environmental burdens that are placed on domestic producers but tolerated from abroad.

Yeah, Levin has been quite successful rousing up a small segment of the population. That’s all he needs to be successful. If he sounded like he was content with everything Trump did, his show would be (more) boring. He’s getting all excited lately about Trump’s trade policy, becoming protectionist. Buying jobs for tax breaks. Oh, my, the sky is falling. According to Levin, it’s 1929 all over again. Fine, Mark. It beats listening to sports radio on the drive home. Barely.

“He refuses to understand what globalization has wrought upon manufacturing ...”

You mean what unions have wrought.

And union-supported politicians.

But I don’t think it is possible nor practical nor practicable to move from whatever it is we have now to an ideologically pure position in one shot.

He is not incorrect with his concerns, but in an era where the government, both parties, has funded billions of dollars worth of cronyism, this Carrier deal is very small potatoes.

Excellent point. Ideological purity is Mark Levin's thing, though, and he's not going to let it go.

I agree with you entirely about ‘intellectuals’. That word is incredibly overused, and what does it really mean? There are smart people everywhere, and lots of not so impressive people in positions of power. In our country, at this point in history, the biggest ticket to a political career is an academic pedigree, and that is decided by either 1) how focused, ambitious, and hard-working you were in high school (sometimes at the expense of normal emotional growth), 2) Being from a ‘connected’ family - usually on the basis of money or fame, or 3) Being part of an appropriate minority or desired group (this includes foreign students, because universities earn ‘diversity points’ for all of these things).

The US, unlike Japan and many other countries, has not traditionally determined the ‘fate’ of children on the basis of ‘academic’ criteria at an early age. We've always allowed for ‘late bloomers’, and this, IMHO, has been a great thing and of great advantage to our society. If all American children were told that their future would be determined by how well they did in elementary school and high school, their focus would be different and many of those who wound up valedictorians etc. would likely not have achieved that if everyone was a ambitious and focused. I don't advocate for that, because I think emotional intelligence is at least as important as academic achievement in determining who is going to be a productive member of society.

My two cents..

I wish both Levin and Sarah Palin would just shut up. Free Traitors had their day, and destroyed America's workers. They brought in tens of millions of illiterate 3rd Worlders to displace our folks, and sent millions more jobs overseas -- all while pretending that competitors like were playing fair, while they were raping us.

I LOVE Trump's 35% threat. He can use it against both the GOP and Dems, in order to extort a huge corporate tax cut and gutting of environmental and legal regulations that caused so many companies to flee in the first place.

Palin is just bitter that Trump skipped her for Interior, and Levin is just a #NeverTrump douchebag who should get a room with Glenn Beck.

Then you get the best of both worlds, use selective instances to create a test case that you then use as example on it’s success to further drive policy for everyone.

That's the plan, as far as I can see.

The dumb-as-rocks Levin fans, listeners and defenders will never “get” Trump.

Chances are they were never *for* Trump, at all, but like most lonely hearts just wanted to be seen hanging onto the Trump Train that was, and still is, growing exponentially.

I no longer listen to Beck...that was easy call.
Then Levin and never Trumperism until just before election now he’s swung back
And Rush who I have listened too when he was on local Sacratomato station before going national...I stopped listening to him. Just read his Websight and don’t have to put up with all the commericals.
I now have enough free time to work serving in the lunch line of a local homeless shelter and am actually doing something constructive for America.

I listen to Levin for years on his podcast and enjoyed him bashing the libs. I voted in the primary for Cruz because I thought he was the most conservative candidate. I really didn't think he or any of the candidates could beat Hillary with the way this country had moved politically. I did love the way Trump pointed out the MSM and called them sorry, no good, lying SOBs. No other Republican candidate ever had a pair to do that.

Trump won the primary and I did everything to support our candidate even though he was not really a Republican at heart but I truly believed he had the best interest at heart for the working men and women in this country and I believe he loves this country. Obama’s actions prove to me he does not love this country and neither does Hillary.

I had to stop listening to Levin's podcast because he talked about Trump as if he were the devil himself even though he was running against the most evil and vile person ever in my opinion. Trump and Hillary were the only real two choices and yet he kept on Trump bashing and bashing people who supported and voted for Trump over and over. He continues to bash Trump and the people who support Trump even though the man doesn't take Office until next year.

Sorry Mark you lost.
