Hey guys. I'm 58 and have had tinnitus for about 30 years now. It has always been just an annoyance. But this year the volume has increased A LOT. It's like a very loud dentist's drill in both ears. I have heard that tinnitus can make you suicidal. I always scoffed at that but I'm starting to see why it would be attractive to some people.
I have a few questions and would appreciate any feedback.
1. I know there is not cure but do any of you know of anything that can reduce the volume?
2. Do cochlear implants help tinnitus?
3. Is there anything promising down the road?
My doctor doesn't have any answers.
I’ve been taking it for at least a year.
I noticed improvement in a couple of months.
I take two 5000mcg caplets a day, three if
the noise gets built up.
I noticed also that by pressing upward on the
roof of my mouth I could make it stop but it’s
only while pressure is applied so not much help.
I have the same problem. I to to an otolarangologist every couple years just to see if there is a cure or solution. I trust them more than I trust infomercials or the internet. So far, no cure.
My ears have been ringing since My days as an Artillery crewman in Vietnam fifty years ago. I just tried the finger snap method you described and, amazingly, experienced a few minutes of relief!

Turmeric/Curcumin also very good for those conditions.

It helps. For me it reduces the volume.
Here in Denver area I keep hearing stories (not advertisments)
about a Dr. Lisa (???) that has had great success with some
method or aid that provides a white noise of some sort, and
people claim it is miraculous.
I think it is Colorado Hearing and Tinnitus Clinic.
Even ex ‘Tea Party’ representative, Tom Tancredo(R), does
free ads for them because he had Tinnitus so bad, and it
worked for him.
I have arm problems too. Tried that method and couldn’t hold it. I then decided just to use only my good arm and simply tap on that area with my thumb. Works immediately for me. Ringing goes away for a long while.

High quality Ginko tablets brought my tinnitus under control. Watch your salt and sugar intake. Too many bananas also increase the ringing for me.

3) Drs Durk Pearson and Dr Sandy Shaw, founders of Life Extension Foundation, talked with Dr. Harmon Kardon? years ago about a drug called Hydergine, which at higher levels of use, seemed to cure tinnitus in some people. Very very quickly. This was described in their 1980 book “Life Extension” now out of print. I don’t think I have the doctor’s name correct, but the man also wrote a book on his clinical use of niacin (B3) to reverse Alzheimer’s in his own mother. The drug is available generically.
Look into L-Tuarine, Niacin, NAC and Melatonin.
Mine was an unusual combination. The prop of a P-3 is fixed to turn at 1320 RPM. Four blades = 4X1320 = 5280 Hz sound X4 engines. I also taught flying for decades. 2 blade prop at 2500 RPM = 2X2500 = 5000 Hz. Really beat-up on my 5KHz sensors.
They are Chinese tapping techniques that stimulate harmonic flow to strengthen weakened organs. It does give results and must be performed consistently for 3 weeks to notice improvement.
you only have to do it about 40 times- can be fast if you wish i guess- i have condition which causes weakness in muscles, and it’s hard to hold my arms up but i can just barely manage about 50 times- quick ones- and it has ‘helped’ so far- we’ll see if repeated times mean more relief-
Same here. After 20 years of constant ringing its almost gone after one treatment. I’ll keep doing it hoping to get rid of the noise totally. This video shows the technique. I can hear much better now.
