Two weeks after 9/11, on September 26, 2001, Carly Fiorina gave a speech, “Technology, Business and Our Way of Life: What’s Next,” in which she tied courage, leadership, heroes, and “the questions of life and death” to business leaders learning from one of the greatest civilizations to ever exist: Islamic civilization. Her claims evidence her exceptional ineptitude or blatant, galling, willful deceit.

This is very good. Fiorina is a capable, no nonsense outsider who can be trusted to serve as an honest manager, a reliable broker of intelligence, and a hard taskmaster and ax wielder when need be. It is much to Trump's credit that he made up with Fiorina to use her talents, and it is to Fiorina's credit that she got past one of Trump's most notorious personal insults on the 2016 campaign trail.
Trump is proving to be unusually flexible and counter-intuitive in his Cabinet selections, defying the maxim that Presidents with strong personalities prefer to have weak and pliable loyalists as Cabinet members. Trump is instead assembling an administration of strong leaders who have ideas and energy. He intends to do things, and judging by the people he is selecting, the Trump administration will be one of action and conservative reform.

A major bet has been missed if Heather Wilson doesn’t get this post. SHE is brilliant, has a military background, was actually elected to office, and has been a totally loyal team player. Carly is ok, but Heather would have been a once-in-a-lifetime candidate for the job.
