I remember my Senior Drill Instructor SSGT Deas telling us that “Every swinging dick in the Corps that isn’t infantry is here to support the grunts”.
There is no dishonor in that, unless you give less than your best, especially when at war.
I aced my ASVABs, my recruiters were astonished that I wanted infantry, instead of intelligence or something. I told them that the infantry was the whole point, and I wanted to be there.
Took my ASVAB in 9th grade. By 11th grade I was talking to all 5 branches, but the Army offered me the most options. With my GT score the intelligence types scooped me up with no ifs ands or buts. They literally only showed me intel MOS jobs. I laughed when they tried to make me a Russian diddly-bop.
Same here, ASVAB results said pick your job and my scrawny 118 lb arse went 11C1P. I put on over 40 lbs through the process and went to mech and then Light Infantry. That is no job for a female. All respect to women but there are just some jobs you should not do.
