Same store. Same candy bar position. Different candy. Different squirrel. CBC News spoke with the shopkeeper to determine what was going on and the result is shocking.
The owner later learned the thefts — at least six so far — could be the work of an entire ring of furry thieves, or at least two critters. "A black one (or more) and a light brown/grey one (or more)," the owner wrote.
It’s too late. The thieving squirrels will soon be in your town, robbing your stores and keeping small business owners living in fear. Hide your candy and say your prayers. It’ll all be over soon.
Not only humans as it turns out, are shoplifters.

Squirrels are so resourceful.
I have done tests to see how good their sense of smell is and I was surprised.
One time I put put out of sight shelled peanuts in a hanging flower pot about 5 feet above the deck they normally feed on.
The first squirrel came sniffed around and sensed food was above him , shortly thereafter he was up in the flower pot by getting on a nearby table and jumping on to it.
Just about an hour ago I watched a squirrel plowing through the 1 foot of new snow, when he got to the chain ink fence where they usually come under - it was below him in the snow.
He tunneled down into the snow tunneled along out of sight under the snow and popped up inside my yard, and then continued along the top of the snow to where I feed them on the back porch.
That candy taken in the film probably had nuts in it and they can sense that. I have raised rats and they have a great sense of smell and Squirrels apparently do also. (I know some of yu call squirrels tree rats)
I am sure fellow Freepers have had all kinds of experiences with squirrels, unfortunately some of them bad. -Tom
The squirrels down here regularly take all of the Easter eggs hidden outside overnight.
To have any left for the kids on Easter Sunday morning by 9:30 am, you have to put them out on Easter Sunday after 8:30 am.
Funny video. You can see that it knows its doing something wrong (or at least that it can get in trouble for) because it approaches cautiously and then races away after it takes the candy.

Looks like the owner is dealing with a MULTI-NATIONAL SQUIRREL CRIME RING.
Years ago I had a bird feeder. Squirrels took it over and kept the birds away. I noted that we had birds of prey in the area. So I moved my bird feeder into a wide open area and loaded it with corn. The hawks thanked me. There would be squirrel tracks in the snow that ended abruptly where a swooping bird of prey caught the little thieves.
Just saw my first Starlings in a while. Might have something to do with the Peregrines in the church steeple across the street. See a lot of Sparrows. Probably too small to bother about. Regularly find Pigeon feet lying about.
Squirrels learn by observation. If they saw one squirrel try it and get rewarded with a candy bar, other squirrels will give it a shot.
