How NYC’s Pasta King Lost 137 Pounds
New York Post ^ | January 11, 2017 | Dana Schuster

Michael White, the Michelin-starred chef behind acclaimed Italian restaurants such as Marea and Ai Fiori, has dropped 137 pounds over the past five years — but he’s still enjoying the pasta that made him famous.

In 2010, the 6-foot-4-inch chef noticed his body was aching. He was uncomfortable, his feet hurt and he lacked energy.

He stepped on the scale and was shocked by the number he saw: 374 — 100 pounds more than he weighed as a football player at Rock Valley College in Illinois.

I need to do that - again. I lost over 100lbs many years ago, but have gained most of it back. After three years of foot surgeries, I’m almost ready to visit the park again, bask like a tortoise in the morning sun for vitamin D. Almost ready to take a stroll , see the birds and smell the plant life. I can do this for free.

My news year wish was that we would all stop hearing about the lives of “celebrity chefs”. I guess my wish failed.

He’d probably try to charge you 50 bucks for a tiny plate like that. One thing I’ve always found quite ridiculous is what some places charge for high end Italian food. Hell, it’s still just pasta and garlic and tomato sauce and such, ya’ know. Stuff an Italian Granny can make you for about 3 bucks a plate.

Over rated and totally overpriced.

I didn’t even know a bathroom scale could go up to 374.

Noticed Rachel Ray has gotten pretty plump eating all those carbs and no exercise beyond running from airport to airport. Filming session to the next one. Few chefs stay thin they like all that butter and carbs.

Moderation is the key. Use smaller plates. I cook for 2, that means 2 meals from 1 typical recipe.

Since I have to watch carbs for Blood Sugar, I’ve learned how much of it I can consume and keep that where it belongs in the readings. Last A1C1 was a 5.5.

The fact is no diet plan is “best” for everyone.
Some people do well with the no-carb options, some simply can’t do it.
My cousin lost over 90 lbs by exercising, cutting out the beer and eating smaller meals, period, nothing else.
The one thing that HAS to be on your agenda if you want to lose weight and be healthy is exercise.

One thing every diet plan glosses over is if you eat alot less than you did getting fat and if you move (to the point of getting up a good sweat as in soaked shirt and pants) lots more that you did while you were getting fat then you will lose weight.

It really doesn't matter what you eat or what type of exercise you do as long as the calories burnt doing exercise exceed the calories needed to maintain your body daily. You will lose weight if that happens.

But it takes great self control when the modern world is geared for you to do the opposite which is eat way more calories than you need and move very little.
