Only some ranges have a warming drawer under the oven, most ARE storage drawers.
I was a GE Factory Service tech for 31 years, so I would know.
If there is no control feature or heating element, it is a storage drawer.
My first apt had an oven and the bottom drawer was for broiling.
Exactly, my main stove, I can control the temp of the warming drawer. It’s a nice option to have.
Bingo! My stove is from the fifties. (Sadly, not an O’keefe Merritt, which probably DID come with warming drawers). Just a vintage Kenmore. It’s a storage drawer.
REAL INFO!
Our old Kenmore oven is actually a heat drawer as there is a control for it although we use the drawer for storage.
In a Futurama epi, yadda yadda yadda, the appliance salesman said that bottom drawer on the new model oven pulls out for the little woman to soak her feet in while she spends all day at the hot stove.
60 years ago, that’s where the broiler was located. At least that’s where it was down on the farm, on our old Magic Chef bottled gas range.
My stove, which is a Siemens, says my model has a warming drawer, but I use it for storage. lol
“”Only some ranges have a warming drawer under the oven, most ARE storage drawers.””
You are right. I forgot I’d had a conversation in the past year with someone who told me stoves don’t have drawers in the bottom...I guess it’s the difference between gas and electric, right? My broiling (gas) gets done in the oven while others gets done in a broiler beneath the oven. BUT then, I have had broiling by gas in the bottom. Well, shucks - how did this get so complicated?
Bingo. All mine does is hold frying pans. No control for temps. That would be a high end stove, which I don’t need. A Microwave is for re-heating food. If you show up late, expect cold food and use the microwave to heat it. I set a time for when food will be on the table, if you’re late, don’t expect me to keep it warm, use the microwave and re-heat what you choose to eat.
Same goes for washers and dryers, I buy the plain ones, no fancy gadgets, washes just as clean. Traded out the supposedly energy efficient dishwasher in the 12 yr old house we bought with the old one from the old house, the HE took 1.5 hrs to get my dishes not so clean and was noisy. Old one 1 hr and was quite, got my dishes clean until the GOV took phosphates out of the dish soap. Use Vinegar to keep the nasty looking glass look off my glasses. I’m not paying for a fancy small bottle of stuff that only half works.
