When you click new you’re basically creating a new canvas. Click on open..that will give you the option to select a picture from your computer

With the image open in PS, choose Image > Image size (or shortcut Shift + Ctrl + I) then set your desired witdth & height in inches, and change your resolution to something higher, like no less than 300 but no more than 600 pixels/inch

Create a blank template with those dimensions. Open the original pix and select it and copy and paste it into the new blank template window. Resize it to fit or crop it as needed. You may have to crop vs resize it so as to not distort it.

Did you figure it out? If not, upload the original to IMGUR or another photo-sharing site and post it here. I’ll fix it for you and post it back.

When you click “new” you’re creating a new, blank document. There is no need to do this. Just go and change the image size to 300 dpi at the dimension required and save it under a different file name.

Do you have the original?

Going from 300 to 72 is ok. The other way, not so much. If you drop the picture 50 in size, the best resolution you are going to get is 150dpi. The difference means that the computer is going to “guess” what pixels come in between.

Sure, it’s small, but it’s going to look “mushy.”

You are all so amazing. I was immensely frustrated today in trying to get this completed for my husband. You all stepped up and helped me, and I am incredibly grateful. I love this community, I have been a FReeper for many years.. (10+?) and I am honored to call you my FRiends.

If you ever need help with diet, healthy lifestyle, or alternative health questions, I am your FReeper. I am a registered dietitian, we eat paleo/low carb, I have 50 continuing education credits in herbs/vitamins, and I have been studying vaccine safety and the Pharma Industry for over 30 years. Oh, and I am currently training to be a midwife. PM me if I can help you in any way.
