A Louisiana state trooper sustained minor injuries Saturday (Jan. 21) when a man driving erratically along Interstate 12 near Hammond slammed into the back of his police SUV. The driver, Bradley Burch of Florida, was suspected to be high on heroin at the time of the crash, police said.

Burch, who also suffered minor injuries in the crash, was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail with DWI, reckless operation and driving with a suspended license, state police reported.

Florida resident Kyle Nadler was traveling westbound on I-12 shortly after noon on Saturday when he witnessed a Dodge truck being driven erratically by the suspect. Nadler and his wife calmly called 911, provided authorities with a description of the weaving vehicle and continually updated the exact location of the truck as it traveled westbound on I-12, veering on and off the roadway. The out-of-control vehicle on video by a passenger in Nadler's vehicle.

I read that last year more people died from heroin overdosing than from murder.

Burch, who also suffered minor injuries in the crash, was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail with driving while impaired, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.

But if he’s impaired, how’s he supposed to remember his license is suspended?

That’s not fair.
