"Alarmed by Trump's executive actions? Here's what you need to know"
Conservative Review ^ | 1/26/2017 | Robert Eno

"Can a limited government conservative be happy with the results of Trump’s executive actions after questioning and criticizing President Obama’s use of the pen for eight years? That is the central question that seems to be being asked on social media over the whirlwind first three full days of the Trump presidency. The answer is like all things complicated. In order to arrive at an answer, however, some facts are needed.

Some of the questions conservatives should be asking include: Are all executive actions similar? What is the difference between a presidential memorandum and an “executive order?” Where does Trump’s use of executive orders stand historically? What sorts of executive orders should be troubling?

First, not all executive actions are similar. There are three types of presidential actions: executive orders, presidential memoranda, and proclamations. Each of these accomplishes a different thing.

According to a Congressional Research Service report, “executive orders and proclamations are directives of actions by the President. When they are founded on the authority of the President derived from Constitution or statute, they may have the force and effect of law.” It is important to note that executive orders should not create law. Instead, orders are often used to direct how government agencies are to run under a particular president, and must be published in the Federal Register.

The other major avenue for presidential action is the presidential memorandum. In the general sense, these memoranda direct government agencies on their operations to ensure that certain objectives of the president are carried out. Think of it as the memo your boss sends you outlining your quarterly objectives. These memoranda do not get published in the Federal Register, although most administrations have published them on WhiteHouse.gov since the advent of the internet."

this guy speaks of “conservatives” as if in today’s world they were ALL the same. They are not. There are the Chamber of Commerce “Conservatives” (Kristol, Romney, Bush’s, Ryun, Mitchell et al) and then there are the rest of us who I would label as “Patriot”, “Country as a whole First” conservatives.

That is way past mattering. Being principled conservatives now just serves to preserve all Hussein and the Bushes and Clinton have wrought. The Congress has given up its power and cannot take it back nor can the President give it back to the Congress. The crash into the totalitarian abyss is so far gone that it requires a dictator to pull us out. The Executive has the Congressionally ceded dictatorial power. If the President of a different party does not move hard to take control of that bureaucracy then the Bureaucracy will render the President a picture on the wall in the White House and will rule without him.

The only way now to return the Congress's prerogatives and powers to their Constitutionall place is for the STATES to do that Article 5 Convention while the dictator in charge is amenable. If the States wait for another Democrat it will be too late, The Democrat will prevent it with the might of the vast paramilitary forces the Executive now controls.

Typical Levin twisting himself into a pretzel trying to bash Trump and support his liberal ideologies.

They had no problems with obama running as much as he could this way.

They cannot stand a repblican ruling them,,the way they rule everyone else.

Now they get to experience being ruled the way they rule. No mercy. No quarter. And we’re gonna target more uniparty on our side, and theirs,,for election defeats.

Statutory authority for the President to keep ANYONE out of the United States: 8 USC §182

And please don’t say that there is no recent precedent for such action: During the Iran hostage crisis, President Jimmy Carter banned Iranians from entering the country, and he even deported Iranian students. (It’s noteworthy that liberals did not call Carter a racist, bigot xenophobe for doing so.) What disingenuous and corrupt HYPOCRITES these liberals are!

I used to think very highly of Mark Levin. I was a faithful listener for years, until he lost his ever lovin' mind over Donald Trump.

Up until that point, I thought the man was one of the most btilliant thinkers in the conservative movement. Not any more. He's proven to me that he's merely a doctrinaire ideologue, who only parrots what greater minds have written before him.

I’m perfectly ok with Trump working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And having fun doing it. Hoo-yah! ... Let the big dog rip!

Oh yeah ... well, you need to know that the Libtards are going to put up a fight ... and Hillary herself is showing them how to protest on a budget.

Bubba didn't call her the World's Smartest Woman for nothing.

I think it is somewhat (but only somewhat) calculated.

I consider him a crypto-neocon.

Neocons are not con-servatives; they are con-fidencers (con men).

They are globalists - hence his tirades against tariffs.

Tariffs were once a plank in the Republican Party platform, yet that liar, Levin, speaks as if it is foreign to Republicanism.

He is owned, I believe, and he is required to satisfy his masters, as well as his true underlying ideology.

I no longer listen to him at all - period.

The issue of Executive Orders is simple - are they within the law and are they within the power of the executive?

Many of Barak 0bama's orders were issued because 'the Congress would not act'... THAT is unconstitutional.

Trump's order to limit immigration is perfectly in line with similar actions taken by 0bama when he limited immigration by Iraqis... it has been done by presidents for time immemorial.

It is time to impeach these American hating judges that think the Constitution is a suicide pact! To rule that voter ID is unconstitutional and the president has no authority to protect the American people from terrorist attacks should be grounds for impeachment of such judges.

Thomas Jefferson warned of the possibility of a tyranny of judges under our constitutional system; That time has arrived!
