Speaker Bercow: Trump should not speak in Parliament
BBC News ^ | 2/6/17

Posted on 02/06/2017 10:43:28 PM PST by RC one

House of Commons Speaker John Bercow would be "strongly opposed" to US President Donald Trump addressing the Houses of Parliament during his state visit to the UK, he has said.

Mr Bercow told MPs that "opposition to racism and sexism" were "hugely important considerations".

Labour and the SNP praised him but critics said he should stay neutral.

President Trump was invited to make a state visit after meeting Theresa May in Washington last month.

A petition to withdraw the invitation - and another one backing the visit - will be debated by MPs later this month.

Responding to a point of order in the Commons, Mr Bercow set out his opposition to a Parliamentary address as part of the state visit.

He told MPs that addressing the Lords and the Commons was "an earned honour", not an "automatic right".

He said he was one of three "key-holders" for Westminster Hall, and referred to the US president's controversial travel ban.

"Before the imposition of the migrant ban, I would myself have been strongly opposed to an address by President Trump in Westminster Hall," he said.

"After the imposition of the migrant ban I am even more strongly opposed to an address by President Trump in Westminster Hall."

The Speaker said he would also be involved in any invitation to address Parliament's Royal Gallery.

Trump shouldn't talk to the British parliament, he should talk to the British people.

England should institute a complete migrant ban and repatriate the invaders to their home countries.

The Empire is being lost to the countries they conquered centuries ago. Irony is not lost.

Let’s hope England wakes up.

Bercow used to be a conservative apparently. Then he married a leftist.

A lot of folks seem to be under the influence of a strange spell.

We see it but they don’t.

This idiot conveniently forgets who blew up a British bus and killed and wounded/burned a lot of civilians, attacked their subway system, etc.

A jihadist beheaded a British soldier right in London, and there have been other “immigrant” attacks there too.

As for Bercow, all I can say in my colloquial English is, “Blow it out your ass, Fop”.

But rapist and enabler The Clintons, who also. Pander to every ethnic group solely for votes, who never find fault with certain groups, and who blamed Whitey for everything . . . They would have been quite ok to appear before your group of crooks, eh Bercow?

Yep, and the Islamic refugees that he seems to want to welcome into his country are all well known for their modern liberal attitudes towards women, gays, and people of other faiths. that’s sarcasm btw. This guy is probably a traitor to his country to be honest. that isn’t sarcasm.

Trump should cancel the trip. Instead, invite Teresa May to visit America, again.

Its really strange, the way people are reacting.. racism and bigotry are accusations made when nothing else sticks , they don't like him so these charges are just an excuse to hate without being accused themselves of racism and bigotry .. so the real question , why is trump and his followers hated and how is it people are falling in lock step with each other with this mindless hatred... ?

Really its almost demonic in a way..but think about it; .trump opposes the globalist agenda , which is to lay the foundation to subjugate all people under one leader... the anti Christ.... seriously how can people act so illogical and mindless all acting out the same resistance which is harmful to their own society and well being unless there is type of spiritual warfare going on world wide?

If I were Trump, I would not comment on this matter. Let the Brits aregue this point among themselves.

I think the Trump message would be received better among the British people than among the British Parliament and it isn’t in Trump’s nature to run away from danger. Remember the “debates” he walked into? he knew he was walking into an ambush and he walked in anyways and kicked ass and became POTUS. I think the British people, who recently voted to leave the European Union, need to hear Trump’s message and need to know that we have a pretty good understanding as to just why they voted that way. This Bercow guy is scared of Donald Trump and that message.

he needs to go there and deliver his message to the people that just voted to withdraw from the European Union. Bercow can just sit there and watch.

I am actually inclined to agree with Bercow. Don’t address the viper’s nest from inside the viper’s nest.

Mr Bercow told MPs that "opposition to racism and sexism" were "hugely important considerations".

Yet, he welcomed the Emir of Kuwait in 2012 with these words :

“Your Highness it is my privilege to welcome you here to our Parliament for this important stage of your state visit. Your presence here today is a welcome reminder of the many intimate ties that exist between our nations and our peoples”

According to Human Rights Watch Kuwait has a poor record on women’s rights:

“Women continue to face discrimination in many aspects of their lives, and large legal gaps remain in protections for women. Kuwait has no laws prohibiting domestic violence, sexual harassment, or marital rape.”

It is also illegal to be gay in Kuwait and according to the International Air Transport Association the country also bans Israeli passport holders from travelling there.

This guy is nothing but a hypocrite.

No. These leftist pricks are a minority, both in Parliament and amongst the people of the UK. Polls have shown that more people support a state visit by Trump than are against it, its just that the virtue-signalling leftist tw@s are a lot more vocal and noisier about their opinions. Its long past time when these idiots stopped getting their own way and got put back in their place.

The petitions to ban Trump from a state visit have more signatures than the one started to have him attend. Personally, I don’t get the Brits and their petitions and I don’t think the Brits realize The Donald probably isn’t even thinking about this. He’s too busy speaking to our armed forces.
