Current body armor is very heavy and a pain, with many Special Operations types refuse to wear it on raid type missions where speed and stealth are critical.

I remember seeing a clip taken from a chopper of a Marine squad in full body armor at the beginning of Desert Storm. They were stiff-legged and moving slowly.
