I guess I need to adjust my thinking... When I take a tax deduction I am really getting a subsidy from the government - Like my personal exemption subsidy or my mortgage interest subsidy.
Seems to me the same thinking applies to getting a tax credit for insurance... it is either a tax deduction or its a subsidy. I understand Trump is going to adjust the subsidy brackets on income for the middle class.
On another point: why should someone wait until they are ill to buy insurance? Seems appropriate to me to allow insurance companies the ability to slap a healthy surcharge for doing so.

You're right about RyanCare.
Trump better let Ryan know that this is a complete non-starter, or ...

There should be no more ability for companies to deduct insurance payments on behalf of their employees. Why? Are they not paying for at least 50% of the policy cost?

The Yugo, Woody Hearse Version!!! Or is that the casket version, I never can remember. 8>)
To: dp0622
Perhaps you could do a TV commercial for Yugo with it. Thieves come to steal your ‘vintage’ Yugo, and you scream out the bedroom window, let go of my Yugo.

Already got a call. Holding out for 100k :)

I was actually kidding. But it’s certainly possible to see employment based health insurance as a non-taxed wage benefit to workers, for which employers take a deduction, and there is nothing similar on the individual side, an asymmetry that the Ryan proposal does address.

Hey now, I think they make great yard planters. That's why I have three in my back yard, and the grandkids love them:
You can't see them but there are marijuana plants growing in them. 8>)

And a new Yugo, right. 8>)

Enough with the back room writing of bad bills. This does little to nothing To change it and won’t fix a single problem with our system. Come to the table with a great plan and work back to compromise. Not this. We control all three branches won on this issue and need to see better. This is garbage.
