North Carolina is a crazy quilt of left vs right, urban vs rural, town vs gown, bathroom access, etc.
Avoid the confusion and come to South Carolina. Conservative political culture, gun friendly, good homeschooling climate, minimal Muslim problem & other attractions. Upstate (the Piedmont) is somewhat techie/urban/liberal but nothing like Asheville or Chapel Hill.
Nice coastline & resort towns, as well. You’ll like it here.
I don’t know NC at all but after spending three years visiting Charleston, SC several times a year, I fell in love. Great area, friendliest people I have ever met, and you don’t need to be in the closet conservatively. I know that city has its share of libs but it’s really not overpowering at all. (I live in L.A.)
