I make my own as well.Do they come out crispy crunchy brown like mine or soggy and mushy like everyone else's?

If I use plenty of oil and add a little bacon grease they come out fine!......GOTTA HEAT IT UP REALLY HOT FIRST BEFORE ADDING THE TATERS!...............
