True. But even some conservatives and Trump supporters are complicit in the consternation and agitation. I’ve lost count of the times that Rush Limbaugh has tried to drive home the simple reality that Trump is not motivated by ideology. So many have not gotten this. Political calculations which are second nature to politicians and political observers, has never been Trump’s perspective. His focus has always been on gaining negotiation advantage and getting results. His tactics may be many things, but political they’re not.

” I’ve lost count of the times that Rush Limbaugh has tried to drive home the simple reality that Trump is not motivated by ideology.”

Very true. He is also not a social conservative. He has lived in one of the most liberal cities in the country his entire life and rubs shoulders with the liberal intelligentsia. His daughter and son-in-law, two of his closest advisors, are liberals whose circle of influencers and friends are 100% progressives. His multiple marriages and divorces, ruthless business tactics, inability to accept personal accountability when things go wrong, impulsive twitter storms, and tendency to be loose with facts suggest he has no strong moral foundation. Certainly he fails to understand the uneasiness many citizens from both the right and left have with his son-in-law and daughter being close advisors.

Lacking a core political ideology and absent a strong system of moral values Trump is an opportunist who seems to live and manage situationally as well as in the moment. More and more he appears to be another opportunist who made promises to get elected and conveniently walks away from those promises when under pressure. Mexico will not pay for the wall which increasingly looks like will not be built. We will not withdraw from foreign wars, instead it appears we will continue to be an imperialist nation constantly intervening in the affairs of other nations. Instead of eliminating Obamacare he seems to be moving toward single payer national health insurance. As to tax reform, so far there is no plan and the Republican leadership is content to push out the date for reform. Meanwhile he publicly supports his daughter’s dream of a huge new child care entitlement. It appears the promised fiscal responsibility is just more fake Republican promises we’ve heard for years but never seen any action on.

To the degree he ever had a conservative agenda, Trump has abandoned virtually all of it except electoral reform. Newly appointed Justice Gorsich, touted as a conservative jurist, has yet to be tested and given past GOP appointments is as likely to be a Souter or Blackman as he is a Scalia.

Hillary will not go to jail. That promise evaporated on day 1. After all Chelsea is a good friend of Ivanka’s and it would be unseemly to put her mother in jail. So far Attorney General Sessions is missing in action. The corrupt Obama head of the IRS is still in office as are hundreds of other Obama bureaucrats. If Trump plans to drain swamp he needs remove the plug that keeps leftist operatives entrenched in the federal bureaucracy.

Within days raising the debt ceiling will become a political crisis. No news yet on the federal budget which must in be place by October 1 or he will continue the irresponsible practice of funding federal programs through continuing resolutions.

Worst of all, he’s allowing the press to set the agenda and steer the political conversation in the country.

While I’m disappointed, I’m not surprised. An even cursory look at Trump’s history showed who his is - an opportunist with a huge ego. His actions in office are no more a surprise than Barry Obama’s behavior. So far the only good news is a few regulations have been repealed and he is not Hillary.

I tend to agree except for this. By it's very nature, his position is 'political' and that means every single decision made is therefore 'political'. No big business man is successful without being 'political' in nature. I have worked for some very BIG businesses and to thrive you WILL play the politics or you will not survive very long.
