Oregano is not as odd as it sounds; my best student of the mid 1990s, who’s now an ARNP in NJ and just saved her husband’s life by diagnosing a heart defect the local cardio doc missed, swears by it as an alternative to the basic antibiotics.

Just bought a bottle of oil of oregano yesterday, wife has a sore throat, I’ve got some bad teeth. It’s worked before.

My daughter works for a company which sells, among other things, highly concentrated oregano oil. I've used it. A drop in the spaghetti sauce enhances the flavor. A drop on a sting or bite removes the itch or pain almost instantly.
I knew about the former. The later sounded crazy until I actually tried it. It is in my medicine cabinet now.
