It's a boy!

April the giraffe welcomed a not-so-little bundle of joy Saturday morning after animal lovers devoted weeks to watching and waiting.

April is one of the most popular residents at the Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, New York. Fans have kept up with her for weeks as she anticipated the birth of her fourth calf. April is 15 years old.

On Sunday, the calf and mother were spending time bonding, as the baby was learning how to stand on his four feet.

At first, I thought she was taking a dump!

But a lot of people have been waiting for little g to make it’s appearance, so they’ll be happy.

I’m partial to the live Eagle Nest Cam, myself. Though you can’t see much ay night - but it’s a great time-killer during the day.

I like putting bits of organic stuff
out in the sunlight on my deck
and then shading them a bit
to watch the maggots grow.

I confess. I watched that giraffe’s backend since about Feb. 20. I was very excited to see her give birth to that calf.

It looks like baby giraffes start their life with a six-foot drop to the dirt. Kind of a rude introduction to the world.

The Nashville Zoo also had a giraffe calf a baby this week.

We have two Ospreys that have made nests on top of 130k
poles within a mile of home.Enjoy watching the birdwatchers
taking pictures.

From what I understand, that long, first fall is what stimulates the baby to begin breathing. I’d say it’s quite a shock!

My wife has been watching this for weeks. I sneaked a peek or two.
When you watch Alice in the stall you lose perspective of size.
Saw some men standing on the other side of the gate into her enclosure. They came up to her belly.

Must admit being fascinated by it all. Esp. the colt (?) trying to stand up.
Took hours for him to get on his feet.
Just shows how vulnerable they are on the African Savannah.
