FULL TITLE: Conservative Tomi Lahren Tries to Justify Supporting Abortion: You Can Be Anti-Abortion and Pro-Choice
Popular young conservative commentator Tomi Lahren gave more details about her position on abortion this week during an interview with ABC News.
Lahren came under fire in March after she said it was hypocritical to be both pro-life and pro-limited government, and called herself pro-choice. Lahren later was suspended from her show on The Blaze with pay. She now is suing her employer.
I believe you can be anti-abortion and pro-choice, and thats where I sit, Lahren told ABC News this week.
Personally, I would never have an abortion. Personally I would never encourage someone to have an abortion. In fact, Ive counseled friends against it, she continued. I dont believe in abortion. However, as someone that views limited government, I do believe that during the first trimester, that option should be there for women.
Lahren did not explain why she thinks it should be legal for a woman to abort her unborn baby in the first trimester, but not later. She did mention viability as a reason, though an unborn baby is not viable outside the womb until later in the second trimester.
Whether Lahren is flip-flopping on her abortion position or simply clarifying it is difficult to tell.
Her abortion statements on The View on March 17 were much stronger.
Im pro-choice, Lahren told the panel, and heres why: I cant sit here and be a hypocrite and say Im for limited government but I think that the government should decide what women should do with their bodies.

I can sit here and say that, as a Republican and I can say, you know what, Im for limited government, so stay out of my guns, and you can stay out of my body as well, she continued.
The comments sparked immediate outrage among conservatives and pro-lifers. Many conservative pro-life advocates argue that being pro-life and pro-limited government is not hypocritical because one of the governments fundamental roles should be to protect the lives and rights of its citizens.
The Blaze founder Glenn Beck responded to Lahren on his radio show not long after her appearance on The View, saying: I would disagree that youre a hypocrite if you want limited government and yet you want the government to protect life of the unborn. Its very, very clear. But it takes intellectual honesty, and it takes a willingness to actually think these things through and to do more than just read Twitter or Facebook to get your news and your political opinions.
Lahren also told ABC this week that she wants The Blaze to dissolve her contract, which is scheduled to end in September, so that she can find another job. The Blaze has said that Lahren is suspended, but she still is being paid.
Its my job, its my life. Without that, I feel lost. When your outlet is taken away from you, when your catharsis is stripped from you, and you dont understand why and youre so disappointed and youre so blindsided by it, it hurts, she said, clearly emotional.
At another point, she said she is being silenced because The Blaze will not let her post on her social media accounts or continue her how.
This is not about politics, Lahren said. This is about someone who had an opposing viewpoint that has been silenced and sidelined and thrown away.
Lahrens lawyer contends that The Blaze has not fully followed Lahrens contract, and that Lahren wants her contract to end so that she can begin looking for another job.
A Blaze spokesman told Dallas News in response, It is puzzling that an employee who remains under contract (and is still being paid) has sued us for being fired, especially when we continue to comply fully with the terms of our agreement with her.
Unless it is a rape the choice was already made. Obviously, public school sex education has gone common core as well.
Another fake blonde pretending to be conservative.
She’ is a talented speaker who totally messed up. She should now realize there is no audience for her. That’s also a truth Glenn Beck should come to see.
Without being snarky, Tomi needs to find some humility, step off center stage, and find meaningful work elsewhere. Her time “in the sun” is over.
With Beck, a man without any discernible compass, the problems are far deeper. Maybe he and Evan Mcmullin should commiserate, regroup, and rethink. There is no constituency for them.
For the nth
time, these people’s position never attacks the left’s rhetorical hypocrisy. They are pro death not pro choice, and when a
so called conservative does not
see that , they end up discussing in a position that attacks pro lifers and let go of the pro death and blackmailing pro-pimp bunch
You can learn English and speak another language...
It took a week for Beck to get over Jason’s long distant kill.
(For those who follow the show).
I’m of the current slim opinion that Tomi will be back on the Blaze.
If I understand her position on abortion, it's not possible to be pro-military or pro-police and be for limited government.
Her arguments make it appear that she is promiscuous or was and wants for herself some approval of killing her baby if she gets pregnant.
And this is it:
You are "personally against" abortion but all for choice. At what point does life actually begin? If it begins from human conception, is the ending of that abortion, which you say is an option for others they should have the right to do, an act of murder?"
She is no conservative. If anything, on this issue, she is a Libertarian.
A Megan wanna’ be.
They always act as if the only “choice” in being pro-choice is to have unprotected sex with those who are not your spouse, get pregnant, and kill the “inconvenience’.....
That makes her a Mario Cuomo leftist demonicRAT. She'll fit right in at ABC (the Faggot Network).
>>Im of the current slim opinion that Tomi will be back on the Blaze.<<
And I respect your point of view. She has flummoxed. I believe her when she states that she opposes abortion as a personal choice (either of herself or her friends). She believes that there should not be a law against it during the first trimester. That needs further qualification, however.
Without a doubt Tomi is physically beautiful, but there is an unmistakable arrogance in her eyes. And arrogance is what led her to go on The View and tried to win a few admiration points.
So she needs to take some serious time off from the limelight and get her soul right or she’ll stumble again. If she’s a believer, she should glean from the Book of Proverbs.
>>It took a week for Beck to get over Jasons long distant kill.<<
That’s beyond my knowledge.
I’d like to know if she is opposed to slavery but pro-choice on the issue of whether or not it’s allowable for one man to own another as property.
She’s for abortion (murder for convenience). There is no discussion that can put that into degrees.
Anyone I know who “personally opposes abortion” but “supports a woman’s right” to do it is hoping blacks will get them and whites won’t.
I’m not even kidding.
