Woman Tries to Revive Pigeon With CPR in Scotland

A student in Scotland captured video of a unique event on a Glasgow street: a woman attempting to revive a pigeon with CPR.

Twitter user @charlismyname, aka Charlotte, posted a video to the microblogging site Tuesday showing a woman on a Glasgow street performing rescue breaths and chest compressions on a collapsed pigeon.

The woman pauses as if waiting to see if the bird will begin to breathe on its own, but instead its head simply flops to the side.

"Meanwhile in Glasgow... #pigeonCPR" Charlotte wrote.

She said the story, sadly, did not have a happy ending.

"Omg just seen the same pigeon being eaten by a seagull...." she tweeted later.

Would have been more productive to field dress it and fried it up. Instead, you let a seagull rip off your meal.

I don’t think chest compression is indicated for pigeons. You can suffocate them that way...

Compassionate but not smart. She put her open mouth on an ‘unknown’ pigeon? That could have been a really dirty bird.
Besides that, the deceased appears to already have a broken neck, so CPR is not going to help it. Not enough time and available equipment for a sidewalk tracheotomy.

Can you get pigeon disease from a live/recently deceased pigeon? Or is it caught from old, moldy piles of pigeon poop?

There is a lesson in this for all of us.

One day, you’re a mighty pigeon sitting on a statue and crapping on Ferraris.

The next day, the seagulls are fighting over your dead carcass.

Take this to heart, Joy Behar! Never send to know for whom the seagull screeches. It screeches for you!

There are a lot of diseases you CAN get from pigeons; ‘Pigeon Fancier’s Lung’ is a famous one. But I’ve had pet pidges for many years - homers and ferals - and have never had a problem. As with any animal, cleanliness and keeping the critter in good health/nutrition are very important.
